George Mathew serves as the Managing Director of Varya Tech Private Ltd, a company with significant involvement in the Oceanographic Scientific community, providing support to various research institutes through a range of services and products. Varya, under his leadership, collaborates with partners to supply equipment and services to the Indian Maritime and Steel Industries, including entities such as the Navy, Coast Guard, and major steel manufacturers.
Recognized for his efforts in fostering business ties between Norway and India, George Mathew has been awarded two Knighthoods by H.M. King Harald V of Norway. He also held the position of Honorary Consul General for Norway in Mumbai for nearly three decades.
An alumnus of St. Stephens College, Delhi, and with an MBA from Ohio State University, George Mathew brings a wealth of education and experience to his role. He is a member of the World Presidents’ Organization (WPO) and holds additional directorships in prominent organizations such as Kongsberg Maritime India and Maritime Montering Norinco India Pvt Ltd.
Throughout his career, George has held notable positions such as Vice Chairman of the Norwegian Business Association of India and Advisor to the Norwegian Trade Council. He is also a member of the Consular Corps Mumbai, India, further illustrating his commitment to fostering international relations and business development.
