Varya, the new avatar of Norinco Private Limited, will continue its commitment to excellence in Oceanography.
Varya (formerly known as Norinco Private Limited) was established in India in 1942 by two Norwegians as a trading company importing mainly Ferro alloys, Paper & pulp. The company later diversified by supplying equipment and services to the Maritime, Defence, Shipyard infrastructure, Oil & Gas sectors, the Oceanographic Sciences, Hydrogen users and the steel industry.
Today, Varya has a pan-India presence in 8 locations across India, with its head office located in Mumbai.
We represent over 25 world-leading technology providers and focus on serving the marine, shipbuilding and offshore sectors. Our services include hand-holding OEMs in sales/marketing, project execution, and after-sales support. Our products range from ship equipment to shipyard infrastructure systems. We have been trusted partners to several large and small companies, mostly from Norway for over 7 decades and many of our partnerships have been active for over 30-40 years.
Varya has for the last 30+ years maintained and deployed all the scientific and auxiliary equipment onboard India’s premier research vessels.
The company manufactures its own data buoys used for many applications. The company also provides end-to-end integration, deployment, management and retrieval of moored data buoy systems for India’s coastal and deep-sea regions.

Our Director was felicitated in appreciation of Varya’s role in the Data Buoy Program from Inception. Looking on were the Norwegian Ambassador to India, HE Hans Jacob Frydenlund, Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary MoES, Dr. G A Ramadass, Director NIOT, Dr. Tata Sudhakar, Group Head-OE, OOS.
We endeavor to play a key role in NIOT and India’s Data Buoy Program in the future also.
