The Van Veen grab is suitable for collecting bottom sediments for biological, hydrological, geological and environmental studies. Deployed in open condition, through a suitable winch wire rope, the grab is lowered through the water column and allowed to rest on the seafloor. When the wire rope is pulled upwards, the trigger is released and the grab closes with the sediment sample inside. 

Stainless steel and MS Grabs of different sizes suitable for coastal to full ocean depth are available.

Special grabs with adjustable weight are also supplied as required by the user where the grabs are used for different types of field applications. These grabs are also equipped with a single shot camera for seafloor observation prior to sampling
